About
Me
Born in Tennessee in the early '70s, I, along with my family, moved
around a fair bit. After exploring the southern United States, including
Virginia, Alabama, and Tennessee for about seven years, we expanded
our horizons to include the northern and eastern U.S., as well as
the Middle East, Africa, and Far East.
After
a wide and varied college career, I finally took a degree in Communications/Journalism
from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland. During and
after those college years, I traveled with various relief organizations
to some of the more interesting parts of the world including; Uganda,
Rwanda, Somalia, Kenya, Zaire, and much later, Albania. Spurred
by exposure to the condition of refugees and displaced persons around
the world, I've gone on to pursue a graduate degree in Public Health, an endeavor which I completed at The George Washington University (MPH - Global Health, Policy) in December of 2003. In
August of 2000 I married Amy Rawson, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
We lived for a time in California, and a much longer time in Maryland.
In early 2005, Amy and I moved to Madagascar, where I put my skills to use as the Projects Coordinator for ADRA - Madagascar. Be sure to check out some of our pictures of this place (especially the lemurs) on my pictures page.
In early 2007, we moved back to the United States. We now live and work in the Pacific Northwest. |
